Getting Ready For Your First Day Back on the Mountain: Snowboard Prep

The snow is coming. Soon are the days where you’ll wake up, check the forecast and see how much it snowed overnight. You’ll jump up with excitement and rush to retrieve your gear. But wait, you didn't read Geartrade’s blog on how to prepare for the season! And suddenly, none of your gear is ready. It will be here before you know it and it’s time to transition to the upcoming season.

Step #1

The first step to preparing for snowboard season is to tune your board. Remember that big rock you hit last season? All the rails you sent? A tune and a bit of wax will fix that right up. Almost all boards (and bindings) will stay intact and rideable for years, so long as you take care of it that is.

Step #2

The second most important step to preparing for snowboard season is to check your equipment. Most people are not aware that your lacing systems should be checked every 50 days of riding. Those resilient pieces of equipment are vital, they keep you secure and making sure they’re all functioning properly could save you from serious injury. (Sick of the gear you had last year? Check your local listings for ski swaps and while you’re at it, list your old gear on Geartrade.com and check out some UnNew, discounted equipment.)

Step #3

The last piece to prepare and arguably the most important is your body. Taking care of your body is what allows you to strap into your bindings and shred every season. To keep myself ready for the mountain, I like to practice yoga. Stretching reduces your chances of injury and allows proper blood flow so you can continue to hit features and share your love of snowboarding with others. P.S don't forget to curate that playlist that makes doing what you love even more exhilarating.
