Geartrade Consignment Selling launches with noissue Eco-Packaging Alliance Program
You asked, we listened. Our new
Geartrade Consignment Selling option makes it easier than ever to sell your UnNew outdoor clothing, gear, and goods. As part of our dedication to
advancing the Circular Economy, we’re passionate about keeping your clean, functioning gear out of the landfill and in circulation, which is why we’ve introduced a simplified option to sell your gear through an easy, hands-off shipping option. As part of this new streamlined consignment option, we’ve joined with
noissue, a sustainable packaging retailer. When you request a mailer from
Geartrade, you’ll receive a completely compostable noissue mailer to fill up and return.
As you’ll see this consignment program not only simplifies the process for you, but the streamlined process will also help Geartrade further reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, which we’ve committed to as part of commitment to
become Climate Neutral Certified and with our pledge to
Climate Action Corp pledge.
Here’s How It Works
- Request a Shipping Label, with the option to request a compostable noissue mailer bag or recyclable cardboard box. (*More on the packaging below!)
- We photograph it, list it, and send you the links to confirm the details and pricing.
- You get paid! As soon as your items sell, we’ll send you a payment via modern means—choose from PayPal, Venmo or direct deposit (ACH).
About the Packaging
All noissue mailer bags are compostable—which makes them a great eco-alternative to conventional plastic bags that would otherwise end up in the landfill. These compostable mailers are made from a combination of PBAT, a bio-based, compostable polymer, and plant materials such as regular field corn and wheat straw. As a certified compostable material, these bags will break down within 90 days in commercial compost after which they leave no harmful residues behind. To ensure maximum longevity, your noissue mailer should be returned as soon as possible, or stored in a dark, dry place. If stored correctly, they will be strong enough to send around the world for at least 9 months. Geartrade will supply recyclable cardboard boxes for larger items including bikes, snowboards and skis. Clean and dry cardboard is recyclable; if cardboard is wet or soiled, composting is a better alternative.
As a bonus, for every order Geartrade places, as a customer of noissue and a member of its Eco-Packaging Alliance, a tree is planted by
One Tree Planted. To date, thanks to the Eco-Packaging Alliance, more than 13,000 trees have been planted worldwide.
Requesting a box- what you need to know
Using your own box / bag
If you have a box that your gear will fit in, fill it up with
gear that we accept and just select the print label option. Print out the label, adhere to the box or mailer bag and drop off at any FedEx location/drop box, Walgreens, or Dollar General. When it sells, we’ll send you cash!
Requesting a compostable bag
If you have outdoor gear that can't be easily damaged and will fit in a 24 x 24 x 1 bag. Request a bag. When you receive your sending kit in the mail fill up the bag with any outdoor apparel or gear that is not hard, sharp or fragile. Those items could damage the bag and your gear. The label will already be on the bag. Drop off at any FedEx location/drop box, Walgreens, or Dollar General. When it sells, we’ll send you cash!
Requesting a box
Need a box? No problem we offer a large box (28x18x17) a ski box (8x8x57-108) and a snowboard box (24x8x57-108). Request the right size box, when you receive your sending kit you will have a label and packing tape included. * see more on the tape below. Fill the box with gear, attach the shipping label, tape it shut, and drop off at any FedEx location/drop box, Walgreens, or Dollar General. When it sells, we’ll send you cash!
How to use the packing tape
The packing
tape from noissue is compostable! The packing tape is water activated which means you need to get it wet with a sponge for it to stick to your package. Because the tape is water activated it allows noissue to print on non glossy wax coated paper that is 100% Recycled FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and printed with soy based inks. All of this is necessary to make the tape compostible. Just like the bag as a certified compostable material, the packing tape will break down within 90 days in commercial compost after which they leave no harmful residues behind. tape is so eco friendly click here.
Request a shipping label and mailer now to get started. (And yes, you’ll still have the option to list all of your own gear,
click here to list it yourself.)
