GT: SheJumps March 2022 - Get the Girls Out
Friday, March 4-Sunday, Mar 6, 2022
One of our very favorite organizations,
SheJumps, exists to help more women and girls get outside and enjoy mountain sports. They’re big fans of hosting fun, colorful, playful, sparkle-bedecked events all over the country year-round, from all-female mountaineering trips to teaching little girls the ins and outs of ski patrolling.
March is typically a high-point, with an extended
“Get the Girls Out” initiative taking place all over the country. Historically this celebration has taken the shape of in-person gatherings of mountain-y ladies doing mountain-y things, often in fun costumes, tutus, or sparkles. But since the pandemic changed things,
SheJumps got creative (true to character) and found a way to adapt these events to play out both in-person and digitally so everyone can participate. Participants are eligible for fabulous prizes from sponsors who are ponying up big-ticket gear items, so there’s plenty of reason to join in.
Get the Girls Out is happening THIS weekend, March 4th-6th.
If you live in a place with an in-person event, you’re in luck! Scope the latest list of ski resorts where ladies will be gathering en masse to shred, play, and generally make merry. You can find a SheJumps tent at these resorts on the designated days, and check out demos from the event partner, Tecnica Group (which includes Nordica, Blizzard, Tecnica, and even Roller Blade).
Find a list of in-person events here at resorts in Utah, Idaho, Washington, Colorado, and more!
However, there’s no need to attend these events in person—a digital option this year extends the Get the Girls Out initiative to any lady, anywhere. And if you participate virtually, you’re still eligible for their prize drawings from the event’s rad gear sponsors.
Get the girls out—anywhere: how to participate virtually.
SheJumps prides itself on inclusivity, so they were careful to design a digital event that’s not only fun but possible from any place you can get outside. It doesn’t have to be a huge mountain top (kudos if you climb to a mountain top though) … even a city park will do.
The event is a scavenger hunt-style game held via an app. Each day of the event, you’ll be assigned outdoor-themed missions and learn from tutorial videos and challenges from female leaders, guides, athletes, social entrepreneurs, and activists.
It’s not so time-consuming that it’ll steamroll your weekend, although you can go deep if you want to!
The more you play along, the more you can win prizes—and you’ll be connected with fellow participants around the world.
