Recommerce in the Outdoors with Priya Kavina

Priya Kavina, UnNew community member and fellow adventurer, embarked on the trip of a lifetime this past fall. She grabbed her Osprey Sirrus pack that she snagged from Geartrade and headed out to the Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal. Throughout her amazing travels, she keeps her eye on sustainability. Upon returning, she dove head first into learning about the benefits of the Recommerce sector of the outdoor industry. In her recent blog aiming to bring a new light on sustainability in the outdoor world, she takes us back in time to give us a history on consumerism in the United States and how it now affects those most interested in saving the planet… us adventurers. “Recommerce is the solution to a problem created in the 1950’s: consumerism,” Kavina says. She goes on to inform readers about the effects that newly manufactured outdoor gear has on the environment from forever-chemicals to the micro plastics floating through our blood as we speak.
