Black Diamond developed their Womens Deploy 3L Shell for fast-moving alpine days when reliable weather protection needs to stay light and packable. The jacket uses their BD.dry 3-layer waterproof, breathable, and windproof construction, pairing dependable storm coverage with a minimalist build that is easier to carry into the mountains. An ultralight 10-denier mechanical stretch face fabric keeps the shell agile, while fully taped seams help seal out wet conditions when the weather turns. The fabric package also uses 100% recycled polyester ripstop on the face and a 20D polyester jersey backer, adding next-to-skin comfort to the shells protective design. Black Diamond included a single-adjust hood, two concealed zip hand pockets, and an internal mesh stuff pocket with a clip loop so the jacket can pack down efficiently when it is not in use. Elasticized cuffs and hem keep the silhouette clean and help simplify layering, and the total weight stays low at just 232 grams. Finished with a PFAS-free DWR treatment, their Deploy 3L Shell is a strong pick for people who want serious waterproof coverage without giving up precious pack space or mobility.
