The granite feels cold against your palms, and the wind whips across the ridge, but your legs remain unfazed as you reach for that next high foothold. Outdoor Research engineered these softshells to vanish into the background of your movement, using a dense, stretch-woven nylon blend that ignores the bite of abrasive rock while actively shedding light moisture. The articulated cut through the knees eliminates the drag usually found in heavy trousers, letting you commit to long, high-stepping scrambles without hesitation. With a streamlined profile that skips the bulk, you get a clean, functional build featuring a secure thigh pocket for your navigation tools or snacks and a reliable button closure that stays put when you’re mid-crux. Whether you are navigating a brushy approach or moving fast through shifting alpine weather, these trousers offer the quiet confidence of gear that works as hard as the terrain demands.
