When the ridgeline is howling and your skin track is pushing your heart rate into the red, the Outdoor Research Deviator Hoodie acts as a thermal thermostat. It moves away from the old school of "thick and heavy" by mapping high-output zones with breathable, active insulation that sheds heat the moment you start climbing, while targeted stretch panels ensure your reach for that next ice tool or trekking pole remains fluid and uninhibited. This isn't a static piece meant for idling; it’s engineered for the rhythmic ebb and flow of mountain travel. Whether you are navigating a technical approach in shifting winds or transitioning from a strenuous ascent to a breezy summit, the fabric pulls moisture away from the body with surgical precision. It packs down to nothing in the bottom of your pack, yet offers a surprising amount of lofted protection when the mercury drops and the pace slows down. With a secure pocket for your essentials and a hood that seals out the spindrift, this layer masters the balance between keeping you warm enough to keep going and cool enough to keep moving.
