The high-alpine air carries a bite that cuts right through standard fleece, which is why the Ghost Shadow Hoody by Mountain Hardwear belongs in every kit destined for thin air. Built with a shell that brushes off granite edges while resisting the occasional scrub of a pack strap, this piece uses high-loft synthetic insulation to trap heat without the bulk typically associated with winter layers.
