Shed the weight of a traditional tent and embrace the minimalist rhythm of the trail with the Outdoor Research Helium Bivy. Designed for those who prefer to track the Milky Way from their sleeping bag rather than staring at nylon walls, this shelter uses Pertex Shield fabric to strike a precise balance between weather-sealed protection and the airflow needed to prevent condensation buildup during humid nights. The internal single-pole architecture transforms the head space into a surprisingly roomy sanctuary, allowing you to read, organize your headlamp, or simply wait out a passing alpine shower without feeling claustrophobic. When the terrain turns technical or the weight of your pack becomes the deciding factor in your summit push, this lightweight setup disappears into your kit, emerging only when you’re ready to hunker down on a granite ledge or a quiet forest floor. With its intuitive clamshell opening, you can slip inside in seconds, trusting the TPU-laminated floor to handle jagged ground while the reflective accents keep your site easy to spot after a long day of navigating the backcountry.
