When the morning air bites with the promise of a long trek, the Pinion Down Parka from Stio becomes the most reliable piece in the kit. Wrapped in buttery Pertex Quantum Ripstop nylon, this parka manages to feel practically weightless while housing a furnace of 800-fill goose down that traps body heat with surgical precision. The baffled design ensures the insulation stays exactly where it’s needed, eliminating cold spots during those pre-dawn transitions or windy ridge crossings. Whether it’s acting as a sleek mid-layer under a shell or standing alone as the final barrier against a dropping thermometer, the garment moves with a fluid, quiet ease. Thoughtful details like the low-profile insulated hood and secure interior storage turn this from a simple layer into a fundamental companion for the alpine, offering an uncompromising balance of heat and portability that tucks neatly into a pack the moment the sun begins to climb.
