Black Diamond made their Fineline Stretch Shell to cover everything from trailhead showers to full alpine squalls. Their BD.dry 2.5-layer construction pairs a two-way stretch 110 gsm nylon face fabric with waterproof, breathable, and windproof protection, while a PFAS-free DWR finish helps moisture bead off the surface. This fabric package carries a 10,000 mm waterproof rating and 10,000 g/m2/24hr breathability, giving the shell solid protection for fast-changing weather. Stretch fabric and underarm gussets improve mobility, which is especially helpful when scrambling, hiking, or climbing in unpredictable conditions. The feature set includes DWR-treated pit zips for ventilation, a YKK Aquaguard center front zipper, and an adjustable climbing-helmet-compatible hood for extra coverage. Two zippered hand pockets keep everyday essentials secure, and the jacket packs into its right-hand pocket with a carabiner clip loop for easy carry on a harness or pack. At 270 grams and built with bluesign approved materials, their Fineline Stretch Shell offers a lightweight, packable rain layer with the details needed for both mountain use and daily wear.
