Black Diamond designed their Recon Stretch Shell for skiers who want storm protection, mobility, and practical storage in one winter-ready layer. Their durable BD.dry 3-layer stretch nylon uses an 85% nylon and 15% elastane face fabric with a polyester backer, plus a PFAS-free DWR finish for added weather resistance. That fabric package delivers a 20,000 mm waterproof rating and 20,000 g/m2/24hr breathability, helping the shell stay comfortable through wet, active days in the mountains. Four-way stretch construction, movement-friendly patterning, and adjustable cuffs keep the fit dialed without restricting range of motion. A ski-helmet-compatible hood, PU-coated front zipper, and DWR-treated pit zips give it the protection and ventilation needed for changing conditions from lift laps to skin tracks. Storage is thoughtfully laid out with front hand pockets, a left-arm lift pass pocket, one chest pocket, and two mesh internal drop pockets sized for skins or extra layers. A removable internal powder skirt and built-in RECCO technology round out their Recon, giving it the versatility and added searchability that backcountry and resort riders both appreciate.
