Black Diamond designed their Alpenglow Pro Hoody as a technical sun layer for mountain missions that move through heat, exposure, and changing terrain. The piece provides UPF 40+ protection and uses a 92% nylon, 8% elastane stretch jersey fabric at 158 gsm for a lightweight feel with solid mobility. A quarter-zip opening makes it easier to regulate temperature as conditions shift through the day. The elasticized hood is built to fit over a helmet, which adds useful coverage on climbs, scrambles, and high-output alpine travel. A harness-compatible fit helps the hoody sit cleanly with technical gear, while thumbloops keep sleeve coverage in place during movement. Black Diamond also includes a zippered chest pocket for storing small essentials close at hand. Underarm mesh panels treated with HeiQ Pure are there to improve breathability and support longer-lasting freshness on repeat wear. At 228 grams, the hoody blends dependable sun protection, movement-friendly construction, and technical details that make sense well beyond the trail.
