The shell uses BD.dry 3L waterproof, breathable, and windproof technology, paired with a stretch 40-denier nylon face fabric and PFAS-free DWR finish for weather protection that still moves naturally. A jersey backer helps regulate core comfort as output changes, giving the shell a more wearable feel during long days in variable conditions. Black Diamond redesigned the fit for better range of motion and added shoulder construction that supports movement with a pack, along with a lowered neckline to improve all-day comfort. The adjustable hood is climbing-helmet compatible, the seams are fully taped, and YKK Aquaguard zippers help reinforce the jackets storm-ready construction. Two chest pockets, two hand pockets, one interior stash pocket, and pit zips give it the storage and ventilation expected from a fully featured mountain shell. At 360 grams, their Highline Stretch Shell blends technical weather protection, stretch mobility, and alpine-specific details into a lightweight shell built for mountain travel.
