The Gregory Denali 75 Backpack is a seriously capable pack for large-scale backpacking, trekking, and alpine adventures. It splits the difference between load-hauler and streamlined trekking pack, with a ton of removable features—Fusion Flex Pro aluminum stays, a molded EVA foam back panel that doubles as a bivy pad, and an EVA foam waistbelt—that help support heavy loads, but slides out to trim the pack's weight by two pounds when you need to cover serious ground. Even without the stays and back panel, there's a lightweight sewn-in framesheet and hollow aluminum cross stay for stability and support, along with Gregory's EVA foam Auto-Cant shoulder harness, which automatically adjusts to sit comfortably on your shoulders.
You'd expect a pack designed for serious alpine adventures to have loads of useful features, and the Denali doesn't disappoint. The main compartment has both top and side access, while the top pocket, which has several internal stashes, is yet another removable piece. There are pockets sprinkled all over the Denali, from the side water-bottle sleeves to the laminated front crampon pocket and a zippered side stash pocket, with a wide variety of load-cinching compression straps to boot. An internal hydration reservoir sleeve and port helps you stay well-watered when you're hammering out the miles and putting away the vert. Gregory made sure to include an ice-axe and trekking-pole carrying system, and even threw in multi-use lash straps to use with the front lash points, a few spare buckles, and webbing to turn the waist-belt into a gear-loop attachment for ice screws, carabiners, runners, and whatever else you might need.
A big-time pack for big-time alpine adventures. (DWGBSQ3)
