The trail starts before the sun is fully up, the approach takes longer than expected, and by the time the first pitch is in sight, the terrain has already shifted from dirt to talus to granite slab. The Outdoor Research Ferrosi Pant is built for exactly that kind of day — one that starts as a hike and ends as a climb, with plenty of unplanned variables in between. The 90D stretch woven ripstop resists abrasion from rough rock and trailside brush, while the DWR treatment sheds light rain and wind without adding bulk or stiffness.

Four-way stretch and articulated knees follow movement through high steps, crouched stances, and long switchback descents without restriction. An internal drawcord waist is cut to sit comfortably under a harness, and the zippered thigh pocket keeps a phone or snacks accessible even when a belay loop is in the way. Drawcord-adjustable cuffs seal out wind on exposed ridgelines and tuck cleanly over approach shoes when the terrain turns technical. At 10.7 ounces, the Ferrosi Pant carries its versatility lightly.
