The biting pre-dawn chill at the trailhead usually calls for a frantic search for layers, but the Outdoor Research Transcendent Down Hoodie makes that morning routine effortless. Packed with 650-fill responsibly sourced goose down, this piece offers a high-loft sanctuary against biting winds without the bulk that typically hinders movement on a technical scramble. The 20D ripstop shell is tough enough to handle granite edges and brush-heavy approaches, yet it remains light enough to disappear into your pack when the sun hits the ridgeline. Whether you are hunkered down at a windswept belay or enjoying a quiet sunrise over a high-alpine lake, the brushed tricot-lined collar keeps the elements at bay.
