When you are mid-scramble on a granite slab or three miles into a wind-whipped canyon hike, the last thing you want is gear that requires a second thought. The Patagonia Friction Belt strips away the unnecessary complexity of traditional hardware, relying instead on a forged aluminum buckle that locks into place with a satisfying, tactile click. The 1-inch polyester webbing is engineered to resist fraying against abrasive rock while maintaining a slim profile that won’t dig into your hips under the pressure of a loaded backpack. Because the buckle is corrosion-resistant, it shrugs off the dampness of coastal humidity or surprise mountain squalls without a hitch.
