Chilly morning descents and unpredictable mountain passes often turn a pleasant ride into a battle against the elements, but the Pearl Izumi Elite Barrier Vest makes those shifts in temperature feel like a non-issue. Crafted for those who refuse to let a stiff breeze dictate their route, this layer acts as a fortified shield against biting wind and sudden mist without adding the bulk of a full jacket. The fabric feels whisper-light against the skin, yet it works tirelessly to lock in core warmth while the mesh back panels dump excess heat the moment you start climbing hard. When the sun finally breaks through or the pace quickens, the entire piece vanishes into a jersey pocket, taking up less space than a spare tube.
