The biting crispness of a shoulder-season morning shouldn’t dictate when you retreat indoors. When the temperature dips, the REI Co-op 650 Down Vest acts as a thermal anchor, locking heat around your core without the bulk that hinders your reach on a scrambling route or your rhythm on a forest trail. Stuffed with responsibly sourced 650-fill-power down, it compresses into its own pocket with ease, waiting in your pack for the moment the sun dips behind the ridge. The shell is finished with a water-repellent treatment to shed light mist, while the elasticized armholes hug the shoulders to keep your hard-earned warmth from slipping away. Whether you are navigating a damp campsite or grabbing a post-hike coffee, the internal chest pocket keeps your essentials secure, and the standard fit ensures it slips effortlessly over a wool base layer or beneath a technical shell. It is the kind of unassuming, high-performance gear that quietly transforms a cold-weather outing into an all-day affair.
