What Our Gearhead Experts Are Saying:
"I used the Scree 33L on a ski mountaineering day that involved a long approach, a technical climb, and a descent with skis on my back, and the compression straps handled ski and ice axe carry without any improvising required. When I stripped the frame and hip belt for a lighter follow-up mission the pack transformed completely, which is the kind of versatility that makes it worth every penny."
There are packs built for one thing and packs built for everything, and the Mystery Ranch Scree 33L Backpack falls firmly into the second category without making any compromises to get there. At 33 liters the Scree hits the ideal volume for a serious day out in the mountains, whether that means a winter alpine objective loaded with cold weather gear or a technical climbing approach with a rack and rope taking up real estate. The 7000 Series aluminum frame transfers load efficiently to the hip belt on heavier carry days, and both the frame and hip belt are fully removable when the mission calls for going ultralight and saving every gram counts. Mystery Ranch built the shell from 70D Robic nylon ripstop backed by a 500D X Grid reinforcement layer, which keeps the pack light on the scale while giving it the toughness to handle the abuse that comes with moving through technical terrain across multiple seasons.
The organizational setup on the Scree is intentionally streamlined and purpose-built for mountain use. Compression straps double as ice axe and trekking pole carry, gear loops handle additional attachments, and a 3-way zipper gives you clean access to the main compartment without unpacking everything to reach what is at the bottom. A zippered lid pocket keeps frequently needed items like snacks, a headlamp, and navigation tools within easy reach, and the hydration compatible design keeps a reservoir accessible when you need hands-free drinking on the move.
Load up and head out in the Mystery Ranch Scree 33L Backpack no matter what the day demands (DWGC9G0)
