Crisp morning air loses its bite the moment you pull on this Smartwool layer. Crafted from ethically sourced merino wool, the fabric works as a natural climate control system, shedding heat during high-output climbs while trapping essential warmth when the sun dips behind the ridge. The quarter-zip design offers instant ventilation, allowing you to dump steam during a strenuous hike or batten down the hatches for a chilly sunset at camp. Because it resists odors by nature and feels remarkably soft against the skin, it transitions seamlessly from a technical base layer under a shell to a standalone piece for casual evening coffee or long-haul travel.
