The Ultra 1R Sleeping Pad is the lightest option in Exped's Ultra series—their lightest and most compact sleeping pads. This air pad features a lightweight polyester ripstop fabric for abrasion resistance and an R-value of 1.3, which is appropriate for warm weather camping and backpacking. We like the choices between different sizes and shapes to match our bodies and our sleeping bags as well as the cradling effect of each pad's design—with the outer air chambers being thicker than the inner ones to keep us centered and comfortable in the middle of the mat. The Ultra 1R also comes with a Schnozzel pumpbag, which lets us inflate the pad without using our lungs and prevents moisture from entering the pad (which would lead to mold and mildew). Finally, the FlatValves are durable, reliable, and make it intuitive to inflate and deflate our mats for optimal comfort and support.
